TELETHERAPY
When each new client calls for an
appointment, I ask who referred them, how they learned
of me. Almost always they tell me they found my website,
smartsextalk.com, on the Internet. Indeed, the ‘Net
is how most of us find everything from a Thai restaurant
to a new dentist.
In order to meet the needs of clients outside my immediate
geographical area, I began a system I call teletherapy,
whereby I conducted consultations and sessions with
clients regardless of where they happened to live.
Now that Skype technology
has improved, I feel confident offering teletherapy
to a much wider range of clients. No matter where you
are you can access immediate, confidential, and non-judgmental
therapy with me. Teletherapy is comfortable and convenient.
Call me from the privacy of your own home or office
(or anywhere you choose to take your laptop). Call
me from your car if you like.
Teletherapy is simple: you contact me by phone to
discuss why you would like to see me. We agree upon
an appointment time and you pay online through my website
(there’s a Pay
Pal button built in). Teletherapy rates are the
same as an in-office visit. At your appointment time,
you ring me through Skype and we speak through our
computers. We see and hear each other in real time.
This works for singles and couples equally well.
What is required of you? Not much. You need a webcam
and a microphone and a free Skype download.
That’s it.
The time we arrange is set aside for you. Nothing
interrupts us. Our teletherapy time is the same as
if you were physically in my office. Skype’s
technology allows for real time sound and picture transmission,
so we see one another’s facial expressions and
can witness each other’s body language as we
converse.
